Sayeret Raz

“When was the last time you did something for someone else?”

Thanks to you, 75 families receive a basket of groceries every week for Shabbat meals!

Sayeret Raz is a volunteer project established in 2017, by youth from Kibbutz Rosh Tzurim to help needy families in Gush Etzion and Kiryat Arba.

Every week, the youth mobilize to collect or purchase foodstuffs and distribute them to families in need.

The organization is run by dozens of teens accompanied by adults – all volunteers, who give of their time each week.

Over the past year, two additional branches have been established in Efrat and Karmei Tzur, and a total of about 75 food packages are distributed every week.

The organization has a number of features which make it unique:

  1. Diligence – Every Thursday without fail, the packages are divided up by the youth knowing that families are counting on them for Shabbat.
  2. Discretion – The volunteers rarely even know the names of the families who are receiving the packages. We take great strides to make sure that the family’s privacy is preserved.
  3. Volunteers – The whole initiative is run by volunteers – from the adults who oversee the project through the teens who coordinate, the drivers who carry out the deliveries, and those who are actually do the packing.
  4. Educating our youth – This project teaches our youth about social responsibility and provides leadership skills which they will use in the future. So not only are they helping families in need, but they are getting a lot back in return.

Over the past year the number of families who need assistance has increased tremendously. In order that we can continue our work, and provide for every family who needs our help, we are seeking financial assistance from generous donors. The cost of each week’s distribution is 10,000NIS.

Please do what you can to help this important initiative!
