Sometimes Dreams Come True… Especially for Kids

Maaleh Amos, located in eastern Gush Etzion in the Judean desert and overlooking the Dead Sea, is the first haredi (ultra-Orthodox) community in Gush Etzion.
Residents who have been haredi all their lives, along with others who are newly observant, immigrants from the US and the former Soviet Union, and Israeli ‘sabras’, all share a life of Torah and setting the Land of Israel. Maaleh Amos was founded 34 years ago by Aish HaTorah yeshiva. Over the years, the population of this majestic, scenic spot underwent many transformations as layer upon layer of unique stories and memories accumulated here. Today, Maaleh Amos boasts the only regional haredi school in Gush Etzion. Owing to its location it is also a popular resting station for hikers in the Dead Sea region.

Growth
There are currently around 100 families living in Maaleh Amos, including some 350 children. Another 50 families are scheduled to move in shortly.

Current situation
Owing to intensive recent (and continuing) demographic growth there is an immediate need for an extensive overhauling of the outdoor playground. The equipment is meager, very old and in poor condition, and the play area is exposed to the harsh desert sun. As a result, families seeking to enjoy outdoor time must travel to parks elsewhere.

A new playground is a modest dream shared by hundreds of children in Maaleh Amos!
The community has undertaken to build a new playground that will offer kids a place for outdoor games and activities after school and during vacation times, as well as serving the local educational institutions and hikers. The play equipment has been selected in cooperation with the children.

To date the community has raised NIS 150,000 towards the project.
The remaining NIS 106,000 is needed in order to realize this dream for the children of Maaleh Amos.

Partnership and memorialization
We appeal to you to be a partner in this important and critical aspect of the development of Maaleh Amos. Your donation will help us make this playground a reality.
There are several options for naming the entire park or a particular piece of equipment in memory or in honor of a loved one (as well as study of mishnayot/Tehillim recited by children of the community in memory of the deceased; environment conservation projects, etc.)

“Behold, days are coming… that the mountains shall drop sweet wine… And I will bring back the captivity of My people, Israel, and they shall build he waste cities, and inhabit them, and they shall plant vineyards, and drink their wine; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be plucked up out of their land which I gave given them…” (Amos 9:13-15).
