Eden Farms

Protecting the borders of Gush Etzion

Throughout history, agriculture and grazing have determined borders and have greatly contributed to the security of the residents in our area.

In Gush Etzion, there are thousands of dunam of uninhabited lands which are not settled, and have the potential of being part of our future communities.

Until a community is established, it is of the utmost importance to protect the area from infiltration, and therefore with the backing of the local regional council, it was decided that eight farms would be established in Gush Etzion.

One of them is known as Eden Farms and is located west of the community of the Neve Daniel.

One family currently lives on the farm – Pedaya and Devorah Eden and their two children, along with volunteers who assist them from time to work with their laborious tasks.

Sheep are currently being raised, and the animals are taken out to graze daily, which is the most crucial aspect of monitoring the surrounding areas. There is no other way to safeguard some of these areas, without eyes in the field through grazing of the sheep.

The terrain is challenging and steep, and with winter on its way, it does not make the situation any easier.

The maintenance of a farm is difficult with challenges both from a security perspective along with the day to day upkeep. Some of our Arab neighbors in the nearby villages don’t “love” our presence to put it mildly, and that is why we are forced to be on-guard 24/7.

We need your help in securing equipment which will allow us to develop our farm, and safely make it through the upcoming winter.

We invite you to take part in this project and help us secure the required items.
