The Lone Soldier Project in Kfar Etzion

There are soldiers that when on leave have no place to call home…
Lone soldiers are young men and women who have chosen to leave family and friends behind and move
to Israel to fulfill their dreams of making aliyah and enlisting in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
This impressive group can also include soldiers from Israel from disadvantaged backgrounds, broken
homes and Ultra-Orthodox communities that have abandoned them. They too are recognized as lone
soldiers by the IDF.
This project will give them the support they need: a warm meal, a place to call home with a loving
family atmosphere, and a shoulder to lean on.
Gush Etzion is located 20 minutes from Jerusalem on the main Jerusalem- Hebron- Beersheba highway
we have decided to make these soldiers a top priority. Therefore we have a begun a Lone Soldier
project in three of our communities, Rosh Tzurim, Midgal Oz and Kfar Etzion.
The soldiers will contribute to this effort with their monthly IDF stipend. That will cover water,
electricity, repairs and upkeep. Each soldier will have an adoptive family for meals and family support.
They will become part of the community and will be most welcome to participate in communal
events whenever they want to; on leave or in their civilian life.
