The beginning

Six tents set up by families from Tekoa, on the 14th of Tammuz 5742 (1982), in response to the murder of David Rosenfeld, a resident of Tekoa who directed the Herodion tourist site.

Nokdim is populated with approximately 250 families – religious, traditional and secular, Israelis and immigrants, Jews of diverse backgrounds living together with tolerance and mutual respect.

Nokdim is home to the Magen Shaul Pre-Military Academy, where high-school graduates spend a year or more studying and preparing for full combat service in the I.D.F. that may include volunteering for elite special units and/or officers’ courses.

 Unique educational elementary school:

The Kedem elementary school, specially oriented to integrate students from both religious and secular families.
