Aliya To Gush Etzion Summer 2006
This past summer 14 new families came on Aliya to Gush Etzion from,
France, England, Canada and the USA.
Prior to their
aliya the Regional Council of Gush Etzion prepared for their arrival by
assisting in finding rental apartments, registering all the children to
the appropriate schools and kindergartens and assigning "adoptive"
families to guide the new families.
All families
received upon arrival the basic staples necessary for the first few
days, food, warm meals from neighbors; Shabbat was also taken care of,
by invitations within the community a warm smile from people who care
and a helping hand.
During the month
of August a special summer camp ran, introducing the new children to the
Hebrew language and culture while meeting some of their new Israeli
friends. This allowed the parents to have some time to unwind and take
care of important errands and running around.
On September 1,
school began for all the children and and on the 10th after
the kids settled in, a special children's ulpan began in Efrat. This
allowed the kids to go to regular classes with their friends and than
get picked up by bus at 10:30am to go to the children's ulpan in Efrat.
This mixing of the regular program and the ulpan is to give a boost to
the understanding of the Hebrew language and by doing so the kids can
bounce back to the regular framework quicker with a slightly better
understanding.
We have no doubt
that making aliya is a very exciting yet difficult time. Taking that
into consideration we are here to ease the process, making life a bit
easier while getting used to your new environment.
Welcome Home!
